APIO is a Suzuki Jimny specialty store established in 1988 as a predecessor of Onoue Jidosha founded by the current chairman, Shigeru Onoue.
APIO’s motto is “to have no regrets 10 years from now.” While the environment surrounding the automotive industry is changing drastically, APIO staff members believe that the important things, such as the joy and excitement we experience as human beings, remain unchanged. They cherish the present moment and try to spend it thoughtfully. All of the staff members, including mechanics, mail order staff, and store staff, serve their customers and face Jimny every day holding this belief.
Onoue, the current chairman of the board, is himself a big car enthusiast and a Jimny freak. In fact, he has participated in the Paris-Dakar Rally, said to be the toughest rally in the world, nine times. He has also participated in numerous other rally competitions and has applied his know-how to product development and brand creation. This is one of APIO’s unique strengths.
The Suzuki Jimny returned to the four-wheel drive style of yesteryear after a complete renewal in 2018 for the first time in 20 years. Taking this opportunity, APIO, which has been dedicated to the Jimny for more than 30 years, also returned to its roots. They are facing Jimny not for the sake of selling it, but to create a product that they truly want, without forgetting their original intention.
