SIX MOON DESIGNS

A manufacturer of outdoor products based in Portland, Oregon, USA. Brand owner Ron Moak has experienced numerous backpacking trips. In the experience, he felt the need for lighter and sturdier gear, and created his own ultralight (UL) gear for himself and his family, which became the basis of SIX MOON DESIGNS. The brand name "Six Moon" was named after the fact that it takes about 6 months to finish the 4279km of the PCT.

What is SIX MOON DESIGNS's craftsmanship?

Enjoy your adventures with lightweight, high-quality, affordable products!

Six Moon Designs started in 2002 in a small garage. Ron experienced backpacking on the Appalachian Trail in the United States during his high school years. That experience kick-started his life as a hiker. Ron was hooked on long trails, and in 1977, he and his wife Linda set out on the 3,500-km Appalachian Trail.

This adventure made them realize the need for UL. At the time, UL was still considered a minority and even an extreme concept, but his own experiences inspired him to start making his own UL gear. As they made and used sacks and tents, they realized that hikers who challenge long trails need UL products as much as they do. That is how SIX MOON DESIGNS started.

Their products are characterized by being lightweight, durable, and affordable. Of course, the products are repeatedly tested in nature until they are sure that the products are perfect. Most importantly, all of the product designers are hikers. Two of the main designers are experienced professionals who have achieved The Triple Crown of Hiking*. Their experience in the field has kept and refined the quality of SIX MOON DESIGNS’ products.

*Refers to the three major trails in the United States: the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, and the Continental Divide Trail.
